PuriNOx™ Technology is a low-emission diesel fuel system that enables Lubrizol's fuel marketer and distributor (blending) partners to provide a finished, pollution-reducing diesel fuel product to their end-user customers. Partners use a special blending unit developed by Lubrizol, along with normal diesel fuel, purified water and Lubrizol's proprietary PuriNOx additive chemistry to produce a well-blended, safe-to-use, "water-in-diesel" fuel emulsion (An emulsion is a liquid mixture in which a fluid or fluids is suspended within another).

Fuel powered by PuriNOx reduces NOx emissions up to 30% and particulate matter (PM) emissions up to 65% when compared to conventional No. 2 diesel fuel. Average emissions reductions, considering data from numerous tests, indicate a NOx reduction of approximately 20% and a particulate reduction of approximately 54%.
