Fuel & Lubricity
Today's diesel powered vehicles feature low emission engines that
are more susceptible than ever to fuel related wear. Higher fuel
injection pressures, hotter fuel return temperature, complex engine
geometry and higher engine operating temperatures - all these cause
increased fuel system wear and shorten engine life.
By eliminating certain naturally found in fuel that aid in engine
lubricity, the increase in refinery hydrotreating processes
actually diminishes fuel lubricity. As hydrotreating reduces the
sulfur content of the fuel to 0.5%, it also alters these naturally
occurring compounds. The result is increased engine and fuel system
wear. The move to ultra-low sulfur diesel will make these problems
worse.
Performance Plus contains special lubricity agents to achieve
optimal fuel lubricity and engine protection.
